Kilitbahir:
Directly across the straits of the Dardanelles, Canakkale Boğazi in Turkish language, take place the magnificent fortress of Kilitbahir means “the Lock of the Sea” in English. Like Çimenlik Castle, Kilitbahir was built by Fatih Sultan Mehmet II, in 1452. The two fortresses guarded the Narrows of the Canakkale from any help coming from Europe to assist Constantinople (Istanbul). And Fatih Sultan Mehmet under sieged the Constantinapole. The distance to the Canakkale city center is about 1 km.

Degirmenburnu Fort:
It has built by Soltan 2nd Abdulhamit in1894.
Kilitbahir Castle:
The conqueror Mehmet have built the castle in 1462-63 with Cimenlik castle. The narrow place of the Strait is 1243m and the deep place of the strait is 109m.
Namazgah Fort:
Fort (Tabya in Turkish) means shelter cover with ground. It has built by Soltan Abdulaziz in1892.
Rumeli Hamidıye Fort:
It has built by Soltan 2nd Abdulhamit in19th Century. Cannons: 2 cannons 35,5 cm L35 Krupp
Rumeli Mecidiye Fort:
It has built by Soltan 2nd Abdulhamit in1892.
Cannons: 2 cannons 28 cm L 22 Krupp, 4 cannons 24 cm L22 Krupp.
Sari Tower (Kanuni Tower):
It has built by Kanuni Soltan Suleyman in1542. They were the next part of the Conqueror the Mehmets castles.
Yildiz Fort:
It has built by Soltan 2nd Abdulhamit in1892. |
