Ayvacik:

Ayvacık that is 65km south of Çanakkale .These attract many people both from Turkey and abroad.  Within the borders of the province lie several important cities of the ancient world such as Assos, Gargara, Hamaxitos, Chryse and Lamponia, which are close to Ayvacık. Further information on  these can be found later in this section.  Nearby there are thermal springs, such as Küçükçetmi and  İnciraltı, both 1.5 km from the town. The Roman and İnciraltı springs are in Küçükkuyu and the Kızılcatula spring is in Gülpınar.

It hans't been known when our cute town was established which was a small village with 15-20 houses so-called Kızılcatuğlu between the years of 1300 and 1335. The ancient Assos and Chryse ruins are well-known places in the region. The Hüdaverdigar Mosque, Hüdaverdigar Bridge and the Ummuhan Hatun Mosque reflect the Turk-Islam architecture of 14th century.

Ümmühan Hanım, whose hometown was Tiflis, was the owner of an inn somewhere nearby Ayvacık during the Çaldıran War. The soldiers who joined the army from the vicinity of Ayvacık used to come to the inn and rest from time to time. Ümmühan hanım married one of the soldiers, who resembled her last husband, and moved to Ayvacık.

By visiting the other villages in the neighbourhood, such as Küplü, Doğanlar and Garipçeler, she persuaded THE PEOPLE TO SETTLE Ayvacık, Thus helping the grown of the town.

In 1383 its name was "Ayvalı Oba", but was later changed to"Ayvacık".

Some examples of characteristic Turko-Islamic architecture within the town are:Hüdavendigar Mosque; is one of most important mosques in the region of Çanakkale, and it was built by Murat Hüdavendigar.

Ümmühan Hatun Mosque; was constructed by Ümmühan Hatun, the founder of Ayvacık.

Tuzla Hüdavendigar Mosque has a single plastered dome of 12 metres, this mosque was also built by Murat Hüdavendigar.

Thermal springs such as Küçükçetmi and inciraltı are both 1.5 km. far from the town. Roman and inciraltı thermal springs are in Küçükkuyu, and Kızılcatuğla thermal spring is in Gülpınar. They attract many people from Turkey and Abroad.

According to the 2007 Census, the Ayvacık  population is  7.600 .

Transportation Alternatives:

When you come to Ayvacık from Istanbul, after for crossing the Dardanelles, you follow the signs for Ezine and Ayvacık.

For coming  from  İzmir or İstanbul by bus ; you mıght coaches leave for Ayvacık from city terminal  every hours. The bus journey from İzmir  takes approximately 5  hours,for İstanbul 7 hours.
